  • Raising Tropheus and Petro FRYS info (Need your inputs, PROS)*

This is for all those that have raise frys or currently raising frys. Share the type of trophs and petros frys that you are raising and their growth rate. How big were they when you had them? What size have they grown to at 3mths, 6mths, 9mths and 12mths and so forth. Share the type of food you feeding them. Some picture be great too. This thread will help all the beginner who are raising frys to estimate their progress in the months ahead.

    Thanks.

There are a lot of variables which account for growth rate. Not all setups will provide the same growth rate. Factors which can contribute to growth rate are tank size, amount of water changes/filter cleaning, and food.

IMO, if you want your fry to grow fast; put them in as big of a tank as you can (which you have), change water and clean filters as often as you can, and feed them good (not too much though). Good luck.

I have tropheous duboisi and red kachese. I was advised to feed twice a day and weekly water changes of approximately30%. This has helped my fish to grow at a nice pace and everyone is healthy. I also add a little epsom salt with each water change. I am running a wet/dry filter and a eheim 2217 on a 72 gallon bow front with over 40 trophs. I keep my water between 79 and 81 degrees. Good luck future tropheus keepers. They eat nls and nibble at whatever I drop in for the plecos (cucumber, algae wafers).
