  • What's your favorite Tanganikan Fishes?

I'm trying to do a tang tank with different type of fishes that has great color to them. I like all types such as Hap, peacock, cyp and others from 3"-9" inches. Since I don't know too much of them, I like your guys input on what's your favorite or recommend for my setup. Thanks!

All tangs are tight in general!

I don't see how anyone can go wrong keeping fishes from there.

But the scape should aim for biotope to really set it off.

Dave, your top three is like my top three but just in different orders :)

Have had quite a few types over the years.

Brichardi's were 1st and helped sustain the hobby for years trading daffodil fry in at Neptune Gardens.

Adding some steatocranus tinanti to a tank soon.

Starting to really appreciate my Burundi's now.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Im into the trophs like some people. But iv allways kinda been fond of a nice gold head compressicps. Some Neolamprologus Meleagris are cool. A community is fun to do as well, just make some good rock scapes for homes as some can be a little bit aggressive like the Neolamp Buesheri. "nice fish tho" But no matter what you choose your sure to fall into the tang love !

Those are awesome suggestion, everyone! There is names yall mention that I look up and they are Beautiful. I just finish up the 8ft 180g and I think a community tank be the route I want to go. I got 3 lil kids that would love a mixture of everything. I love to see them go ooooh and aaaah. I already got a 210g w/ trophs and petro.

                    How about:
                    Petro (6-8 moshi 6-7")
Small colony of troph (yellow murago)
2-3 type of cyps (10-14 total med size)
                    6 med. Front
                    Few bentho
                    Few comp
                    Some julido

my all-time favorite Tangs are Neolamp. savoryi, which are a member of the brichardi complex, but do not breed in colonies. Rather, they pair off and raise the fry together. As the fry mature, they are exiled from the group (and removed from the tank). They have the most personality of ANY fish I've ever kept/seen.

My other favorites are Neolamp. buescheri.

I couldn't care less about frontosa, Petros or Tropheus. The frontosas are too boring, and the Petros and Tropheus are too hyper and mindless.
