  • Shellies in Houston??

Okay. So after a LOT of reading and getting a lot of help from my fellow boxers, I think I've decided on the stocking for my 20 gallon long.

Was thinking of doing a pair of lamprologus brevis and a trio of lamprologus stappersi (sometimes called pearly ocellatus). I've never seen the latter (stappersi) at any of the LFS around here. Anyone know what would be the best way to find them?

Given my limited knowledge of shellies, here's the list I chose from:

    Thanks!!

Try Dave's Rare Aquarium fish in San Antonio he keeps a pretty good selection.

    120g - Tropheus Moorii Kambwimba
    180g - Petrochromis Macrognathus Dine/Tropheus Moorii Namansi I

You guys rock. I visited the website and it seems awesome. They'll even special order something they don't have in stock, like lamprologus stappersi. Thanks!! I'm going to see if I can find the tank today!

Thanks Mike! I think I want to stick with the brevis and stappersi, but if I can't find them at Dave's Fish, I might check out the compressiceps. I'll be messaging you next weekend about those L-144's though. :)

Ultimate Fish in Spring regularly has all types of shellies. Give them a call to see what they currently have.

Mike-- you're killin me! The katabe is exactly the kind of brevis I wanted. How old/big are they?? Btw... I don't think there can EVER be enough tanks.

I have about three spawns in the tank right now. I can definately get you a pair or trio out of there.
And I will tell my wife you said that about the tanks. I think she will disagree LOL

Haha awww nooo, don't get me in trouble! Luckily I got the bf hooked on tanks by walking him by several frontosa tanks. He ended up getting a 125G setup and I helped him learn. He's almost as addicted as I am now!!!

Mike-- HOOK IT UP with the brevis. I'll come see them during or after next weekend. Will PM you. Also SunnyHouTX is interested in getting brevis as well, so I might pick up more for him as well. Thanks!!

Oh most definitely. He actually came out of the man/frontosa -cave today to peer at my new 20L that only has substrate and water in it with LEDs hooked up to the top. I was very surprised but just quietly watched out of the corner of my eye. He's definitely hooked, and it's all my fault!
