We got 3 very small Ocellatus from Dave (from DRF) a week ago, and we are going over to SA in August, we could pick you up a few if you let us know before we go.

CF, i knew they have some but I didn't care much for shipping. Yes I'd love to get a couple of Stappersi if you're going there. Thanks.

Here's a thread we had a little while back:

HoustonFishBox is an online community dedicated to bringing together people and their fish in Houston, Southeast Texas, and beyond.

Re: Soon to be Shellies Tank

How large of a shell do you need for these guys?  I found a few resources online that has shells of various sizes, prior inhabitants and the like but I don't know which ones to order to get the tank set up.

And the Neothauma shells....can ya still get them, and if so how much??

                    Thanks as always.

                    Let me know.

Re: Soon to be Shellies Tank

I was not successful in finding escargot locally.

I got strapps and occies from rifttoreef.com he's in dallas. But I think fish gallery has some of the occies.

Try cichlidbreeding.com he has nice shells and I got my neothaumas from him...pricey but authentic. I bought all of what he had and last I checked he wasn't getting any more anytime soon.

                            Thanks Mzungu !

i figured i wont find escargot locally after reading the thread.
and i hate buying stuff online cause i have issues waiting for them to come.   i guess i gotta be happy with whatever i can find locally.

Re: Soon to be Shellies Tank

After hearing what those native shells cost, fishlady and I did some shopping, and found a great deal on shells at .....ready for this......wait for it.........

                              HOBBY LOBBY.....

You can get a basket of say.....50 assorted shells for approximately 8.00. You wont be interested in them all, but about 10% of them will/could make good shellie shells.

You could go to wal-mart or a crafts store and buy turbo shells....or the grab bags they have and just use the ones that are good/least amount of spirals.
