    • I'm but a small fish in a big pond. I dare not instigate such animosity when amongst all these ballers.

                  • Update on my "perfect filtration"

So the "fry dispensing, self maintaining wet/dry" has been on the back burner for a few months now due to the removal of the female so that the Trophs don't get too spoiled but I found out the other day while fiddling with the dj power strip that one of the fry managed to survive and grow into adulthood so now it looks like it's back into action! Also noticed quite a few small assassin snails too but yeah, My wet/dry has never built up any protein slime on the water surface and this is with WAAAYYY too many fish in WAAAAYY too small of a tank and getting WAAyyyY too much food a day.

So I will say that this IS the perfect solution!

                    • I was at Petco the other day picking up some yoyo loaches and saw some nice black lyre tail mollies and was immediately reminded of your wet/dry. Almost picked some up too.

                      • I've been sitting in front of my two tanks and really want to net all the RedCherryShrimp out of my planted tank and stuff them into the wet/dry as well... much better treat dispenser for my Trophs.

                        • So how would Mollies handle a 1000 gph return pump? Having no protein buildup is looking better and better.

                          • I don't use the sponge block that separates the different chambers... not sure how yours is set up but my return pump are has access to the whole bottom. The mollies can swim throughout the footprint area of the wet/dry so they don't go near the pumps much.

The fry tend to hide against things for security which is why they get pumped into the main tank. If you are running an open intake pump I would at least put a strainer where only fry could get through, anything bigger would just make a mess. )

                            • No sponges here either. I have 90 elbows on the pump intake sitting 1/4" off the bottom of the sump so maybe I can get away without having to use strainers. Gonna give it a shot.

                              • That should work but I would still put a strainer, cheap stainless steel sink strainer would suffice but whatevers clever.

If you skip out on feeding the molly it'll eat up all the mulm that collects on the sump bottom too!
