Keep in mind that canisters do not function like wet dry filters in that they will maintain the water level in an aquarium by allowing the water level in the sump to lower. Are there just holes in glass or is there an overflow box as well? If there are just holes in glass I would say it should be fine. If there's a built in over flow box then u would rethink the plan. I tried this with one of my eheims and found that if enough water would not fill the overflow box the eheim would drain it and begin to suck in nothing but air. Just something to consider.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Make sure the bulkheads are secure and best bet is to have quick disconnects or some sort of shut off valve for filter maintenance.
The problem with running cannisters through drilled bottoms is the pressure the water volume puts onto the pump, some can't handle it so you don't get the maximum effiency from them and wear sooner than the norm. Eheim is the only name I trust with doing so and only the 2250/2260/2262 models.700g Mini-Monster tank

I thought I could use the existing holes for the intakes, and then put spray bars on either back corner for the discharge, with the goal of creating some circular flow around the entire tank. Critique away...lol thanks again.I ate my fish that died.
