Sell, Trade, Want or Need Fish, Plants, Corals, Inverts, etc. If it's alive, post it here.

even if the are out of prduction they can still be found. I know city pets has them, I remember seeing them the last time I was in there. if your worried about size and efficiency, go with the eheim pro 3, or the fx5. why will it not fit under stand? Stand to short? or to narrow?

Too narrow. Fluval clearly took form over function when designing the stand, as there is no front access, just access from the sides. It's more than enough space for most, but the opening is only 12" wide, limiting the size of the canister I can stick under there.

My second 405 should be here this week, and I've got all the plumbing to make myself some diy spraybars. I think I'll have to mess around with their orientation, because right now I have some major dead spots (where I can see massive amounts of poo just piling up ready to be vacuumed... lol).

I added 5 Acei, all of which are about 2". I plan on adding 5 more fish once I find something to do do with the Danios (Long fin zebra... anyone want??). Cant decide whether I'd add another 5 Acei or something different. Suggestions?

Also, on the Acei, they are all a deep blue body color, but during feeding time, one or two of them become very, very pale. Is this normal? Showing submission?

      Thanks

For the dead spots you could add a powerhead of some sort to circulate the low flow areas and keep all the detritus moving so the filters can pick it up.

Was unaware that this is a complete fluval setup. Well throw 3 2217's under it. But if you got another filter on its way it will hopefully work out. +1 on a power head to move dead space water.
Danios can always take a ride on whirlpool water ride!
As far as the coloring goes, I would definitely say yes. There's always a hierarchy to feeding even though it may look like a free for all. Mine do the same thing, so don't worry there good.
Recommendations for what else to add. All depends on what your wanting. Ad a couple yellow labs, O.B zebras. Good bright colors. Just my opinion.

I thought about flushing them, but then my conscious kicked in. Don't think I could do it.

And yeah, I'm thinking either 5 more Acei or 5 BB Zebra. Would love to add the color of some Demasoni in there, but don't think it would turn out well.

Demasoni would look very nice in there.

Ended up taking your advice and added a few zebras, but got "BB" zebras. I'm still trying to add a bit of green. Will post up some pics when I succeed lol

Is it possible to have an algae bloom in the water column (clouding the water with a slight green tinge), but not have any visible algae forming on the surfaces of rocks, glass or substrate?

I've been doing 25% WCs weekly (2x this week). All water added back has been treated with Prime prior to being pumped in to the tank.

                    Water parameters are all good:

                    pH: 8.2
                    Ammonia: 0ppm
                    Nitrite: 0ppm
                    Nitrate: 0ppm

The fish all seem happy! I'm just sick of the haze .

I'd thought it might be a bacterial bloom, as I added a doubled the bioload, but its been around for awhile now.

                    Current stocking:

                    10 - Melanochromis Auratus
                    5 - Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei"
3 - Metriaclima sp. "BB Zebra Chilumba"
                    2 - Synodontis Cats (Not sure which - but for $7ea, I don't think they're anything fancy ).

I'm using two Fluval 405s for filtration: One has >[Carbon][Carbon][Biomedia][Biomedia]>, the other has >[Purigen][Biomedia][Biomedia][Filter Floss]>.

I'll be adding a Hydor powerhead (Evolution 750) one UPS drops it off this evening. I've cut back on feeding, but only to 1x daily. I've been feeding a small enough amount that they devour it all in ~30 seconds or less.

Lights are on a timer, and are on from 8am-noon, and from 3pm-8pm.

Any thoughts on what could be going on, and what I should do (if anything?).

Here are some more crappy iPhone pics - this time the haze is not a photoshop added effect

They're huge fans of the camera... They love me... it has nothing to do with food.

They've done a great job at dislodging all of the Java Moss I added... even pulling it when it was tied down. Going to try to tie the stuff down one final time before I give up.

Look forward to your thoughts. Thanks guys!

If I had to guess, u would say it us probably do impart to the java moss, but I can't say for sure. How long are you lights on?

~9 hours per day. The haze was there before I added the moss, but I'm not saying that isn't still a big contributor. The girl in my life demanded that I add some green... lol

I wouldn't say it was well cleaned... but it was cleaned Substrate (argonite) clouded the tank like crazy, but had settled down. Rocks were all washed/scrubbed/rinsed, but not bleached. I had figured our drought+summer had laid waste to any snail eggs. I have no idea whether that would kill any - but I don't have snails... lol

Do you have anytime carbon pads in your filters? I suspect that the finer particles may not be, being caught in the filter media. But it's all speculation. Was it there before the fish? Or after the fish?
