Haven't gone to the stores yet. That's on my list for tomorrow. I'll see about going to all three stores then. I hope to find some fish with some red coloring. I have nothing but blue and yellow. I'd like to add 4 or 5 good looking males if I can find them and can afford them.

I'll let you guys know what I got, if anything, tomorrow night. Wish me luck!

I just got back from City Pets with 4 new fish! Only problem is I don't know what I got. I usually don't do this, but I figured if they didn't work out, I'd just rehome them somehow.

One I got was an OB. That one I know for sure.

Another is all white with black eyes.

Another is all red (orange). The guy told me he was a peacock, but I have my doubts.

The 4th one looks like a peacock, might be a sunshine or something along those lines.

I'll get pics of them once they're in the tank. I hope I didn't screw up and get the wrong fish.

Okay, here are some quick pictures of the 3 unknown cichlids. They're still in their bags so the pics aren't the greatest, but I wanted to try to get something.

Does anyone know what these are?

I think I'll do an ID thread which will probably get more results. But let me post a pic of my new OB. I love him!

That's a beautiful fish. Well I'm glad to hear the trip was a success for you.

Thanks! I wanted one with a lot of red which he has. He also has just a touch of blue with some really nice black and white markings. He's also not overly aggressive (at least he wasn't in the tank at the store). He's my favorite right now. He really stands out in the sea of blue and yellow.

I'm going to stop by Fish Ranch a little later just to see if they have anything I can add to the mix. I'd still like 1 or 2 more, and I think it's best to add them all at once than to add them one by one. Helps spread the "new guy" aggression around.

I would agree and maybe move some of your decor around if territory becomes and issues. I do that to mine so they can't fight overs who's is who's.

After getting ID's on the fish, I returned two of them because they were too aggressive for my tank. I took back the Kenyi and the white zebra. I really hated returning the white zebra, it was so pretty, but I didn't want to chance it. Neither had shown any aggression in my tank yet, but I figured it was just because they were so new.

I got a couple more fish at Fish Ranch yesterday. I'll take pics and post them on my journal a little later.

I didn't get as many new fish as I wanted, but I tried. It's not that easy to find what I'm wanting.

Hey. I just saw your post. I thought you had a male peacock tank??? Most of what you just got is Mbuna - they'll kill your peacocks in no time. The OB - looks more like mbuna OB than peacock OB...and mbuna OB will kill any other OB and mean as the dickens ! The only one that looks ok is the first orange one - looks like a Firefish/Dragons Blood variant.

Not a good idea to mix mbuna with peacock unless you have a very large tank and highly scaped (with exception of yellow labs and rusties - they do well) If I can help let me know.
                      Thanks so much,
                      Lydia

Yeah, that's why I returned the kenyi and white zebra. I kept the OB and sunburst. There were two types of OBs there, and now that I've looked at the different fish, I can see how their mouths are shaped. They had one type of OB with a mouth more like the mbunas. The OB I got has a mouth more like a peacock. The pic I posted is really bad so it's hard to see.

The other thing I did was watch the OBs in the tank for a long time before selecting one. I made sure to not select the more aggressive ones in the tank and got a more docile one.

So far, he's not being bullied nor is he bullying. I already have 3 peacocks that are the bullies of the tank so I wouldn't mind it too much if he stood up to them a little.
