Maybe some of you are aware that I have a "gang" of 6 adult brichardi, that I call the Cedar Point Gang. They have been together for the past 4 months. From my experience level and best guess, I would say that the 3 larger brichardi are males, and the three smaller brichardi are the females.
Well you know that for the past 6 or 7 weeks now, these 6 brichardi have been pumping out little brichardi like there's no tomorrow for them, but just a few minutes ago, fishlady and I observed a very strange incident. One of the female brichardi seems to have been exiled from the "gang" or family if you will.
I noticed a single small female near the surface of the tank, which is very unusual for them, as they NEVER come to the surface. She appears to be in good health, but does seem a bit "ragged" for lack of a better way to describe her condition. It looks like she has been chased around the tank for hours and is try to recoup or rest up from the chasing.
Does anyone have any idea why the other members of her "family" would do this too her? Did she violate some kind of rule perhaps within the group? Maybe she was not being as attentive to the smaller fry as she was supposed to be? I don't really have a clue here, I'm only guessing.
But if anyone has any idea or you have heard of a member being exiled from an exsisting family or grouping of fish, please share your comments with me.
Regards
CF
