Wow, that's nice. You are a wiz with those artificial plants, they look great in that arrangement- and placed perfectly to hide the intake, etc. I need to work on that!!

Thanks guys. The arrangement of the plants starts with the arrangement of the rocks. I try to plan the scape a day in advance and then tweak it as i go.

            that looks excellent!!!,

I have a question on the subtrate, do you have to rinse it several times ? or it goes straight forward? and how much you use for a 55g?

I start a flush on the substrate and wash the heck out of it for about 20 mins. On a 55g tank, i use 100 lbs of sand or 50 lbs of a larger sized gravel.
Mike, for a 300g tank i would normally charge $300 a month and that includes 2 full services. If you need rocks or plants or substrate, you pay one time up front depending on what you want. For smaller tanks, obviously the cost of service would be less.

Where do you purchase the rocks that you use? I am looking for some nice rocks to add to my (2) 75gal's and can't seem to find any the right size.

                  Thanks

IIf you are interested, my company offers an aquascaping package so that hobbyists can still maintain their tanks...after all, that's the fun part. Lol

Yes...what does that entail? Do you work for ADG?

Also- do you give unofficial 'scaping lessons? You basically get to come over and make fun of my tanks, point out what I'm doing wrong- and I'll buy the beer, and pay you handsomely... in cookies...? Just kidding.

I do enjoy seeing the end result of these builds, please post moar as you can! I'm learning a lot just looking through all you guys' tanks that have mad scaping skills. It's awesome.

I do not work for ADG. i am the owner of Houston Aquarium Concepts. Basically, we would sit down and discuss all of the different options for an aquascape (rocks, plants, substrate, fish, etc) then we discuss the style you want (modern, classic, biotope, etc). I charge $150 plus whatever the supplies cost.

I am in the process of making a 'how-to' video on the basics of aquascaping. Discussing what goes into rock selection (what kind of fish and overall appearance you want) and how to lay your substrate to create depth in the scape. Anyway, those videos are still a few weeks away...
