  • Trophs and Anacharis

Does anyone have any experience keeping trophs and anacharis together?

I was wondering if anacharis would be a good snack for the trophs and a little change in there daily diet. I could either throw some clippings in the tank every now and then or actually plant some in there tank and just let them eat whenever they want? I am curious to hear if anyone has ever tried this.

    Go for it!

I scoop duckweed/azolla for my trophs and whatever plant clippings that float into the net goes too. Lately whatever floatings that falls into the net when I catch the RCS for my trophs to snack on.

most cichlids love anacharis, especially trophs. +1 for azolla too.

You give your trophs RCS as a snack? Any CRS snacks?

Okay, today after work I am going to dump all the anacharis I have into my troph tank wet dry to see if it helps lowering the nitrates. If this works, I will use all the clipping as a snack for the trophs. It will be like an endless cycle.

coincidently, anacharis and azolla are some of the best nitrate sponges along with hyanchith and any emersed bog plants. i ran a refugium and then fed clippings to the cichlids and they loved it. i had enough to share with my neighbor who had koi ponds. and u can feel good about recycling, so get out your flip flops and grow ur hair out
