      • My Ornate chewed the back legs off a mud turtle its own size and did not drown it. When they decide to eat they can eat... I know a few folk at ADG that stock for big tang tanks use them as population control in hard to access tanks...

        • That is what I am hoping for as well, I have several different groups of fry at different ages and the MBU, DwarfGiraffeCat and other predator is doing little to help population control.

          • I needed to starve mine for a few days and then offer prey to get it hunting. Otherwise its a lazy opportunistic hunter and seems to feed mainly at night or at least when I was not watching. I remember it eating everything in that tank, shovelnose catfish, silver arowanas, cichlids, malawis, giant danios, even chewed up a 5" bristlenose and 6" striped Raphael. It was over 16" when a heater crashed during winter and I lost it...

            • well it would defeat the point if I were to starve him since he's in the tank but as long as he does the job it works for me.

Just noticed a new batch of fry this morning.

I see a few newly spit fry.... the other juvis do not seem to have changed in numbers so no one is effected or no noticeable difference yet.

Snoop has been curious of him though so he's probably keeping the block on lock.
