  • Green Algae

Has anyone attempted to purposely grow this in your tank for your Africans to graze on?

From my understanding you have to have Alkaline water, 10 hours of good lighting a day, and small amount of nutrients such as nitrate.

I know in the SW hobby people wish they could grow coralline algae.

Coraline is approached totally different and is more of a stable and established tank vs fw algae being an unstable thing..

I've grown lush green hair algae though in the past for my trophs and john had an awesome algae scrubber filter going that he'd use to feed to his fish.

Search my old illangi thread or johns algae scrubber thread.

Don't want my tank overran with algae just on some rocks.

btw nothing came up on the search, but I don't plan on doing DIY to get the algae itself.

In my old tank it was mainly on the rocks and I let ot cover the back glass too but that was an easy fix if I wanted it gone.

As stated, algae in fw is allowing the tank to be unstable
