Long and wide . . . I wouldn't do any more than 24" high if it was for me, but I understand people wanting height from the 'show' aspect.

That probably also is a reflection of my passion for sandsifters.

If you put enough substrate in the tank 27" tall would be cool...

Agreed with long & wide, but I would be willing to go up to 30" tall. I still have nightmares about trying to catch fish out of Mike Bailey's 36" tall tanks on 40" tall stands.

I would add a wet/dry as well. There should be plenty of room under the stand

Eheims use less power but the big Fluvals will get job done. I have two on a 180 with 7 petros and 40ish trophs without issue.

Never been a big fan of those. Green hoses and their intake and outputs just look small for the actual volume of water they say their supposed to move.

I assure the Eheims will flow plenty, plus you can modify the intakes and outputs as you like. Eheim actually sells some really nice ones that is use on my 2080 & 2180.

On my 180 I use two FX5's and have a wet dry I will be adding shortly. I bought them because I had to set up a complete 180 in a hurry as I had fish coming in. I had to buy everything brand new in one weekend (Tank, stand, filtration, light, substrate, etc.). I went with the Fluvals because of cost and I have been happy with them. If I had the chance to take my time I probably would have gone with a pair of Eheim 2262's
