            Thanks,

Was just going to ask a basic question about Caribe Sea substrate.

Found a couple of types I like from a review standpoint.

There are a few tan/gold color type sands and i was curious if you have ever seen them in tanks.

            Thanks

Which ones were you considering Danny? I used the African cichlid mix by CaribSea in my shellies tank. It's fairly fine but not dusty, and it keeps the pH right at 8.6. The comps love it!

Put a bag of Moonlight sand in my shellie tank.

Don't want white in my 125.

I'm considering Supernatural Sunset gold or Torpedo beach. I think the sunset gold would blend really well with my mexican river rocks and color of my stand.

Yeah. The Torpedo beach sand is a fairly large grain anyway from what I've seen in other tanks.

I only use leslies pool sand. I don't like larger grain substrate because it allows debris to get trapped in the substrate. Its just my personal preference. When i worked for ADG, we used alot of larger substrates and they look ok...

Stopped by City Pets and they had a bag of the sunset gold.

                      It looked really good.

                      Will order when time allows.

Moving my work shop next month and that will rule for awhile.

Just in case anybody was planning on using these rocks, they show algae really bad. I am psycho about keeping my tank spotless but its impossible to keep the algae off of these rocks. I might let it grow just on the rocks and see what happens. I know it's the lighting that's causing the algae but Im not changing that. I love the LED'S.

Yeah the rock is an algae magnet.

IMO it looks nicer with a bit of algae growth on there, helps soften the look and give a more natural appearance. Well at least I thought so when I used it in my old tank.

I've never allowed algae in my tanks before. Is there any tips to growing algae on the rocks and it not affecting the water quality?

Limestone seems to be a magnet for algae so unless you are pulling out a scrubbing or doing blackout periods I don't see how you can avoid it honestly.

As far as water quality having algae present would consume the bad and better your water quality, the imbalance and lighting is what brings on the algae but once it's there it's self sustaining and beneficial.

Yeah you can't avoid it especially in high lighted tanks. Grazing thophs and petros keep it at bay but it just grows everywhere.
