Buccochromis Rhoadesii spawning

Well, after waiting for a year and a half, it finally happened, and we just happened to be in the room to watch and film it. We knew for sure that we had one large male, but still cannot tell the sex of the other three. Obviously, at least one is a female!

She lays a large number of eggs just after the 5:30 mark of this video:

I'm hopeful she'll carry to term, but we'll see. I do believe this is her first time. I realize the videos are kind of long, and ignore the dumb comments. We were pretty excited!

So far, so good, I think. Spawning was last night. Hard to tell by looking at her, but she is ignoring food, which is a good sign.

It was pretty fun to watch. You wouldn't know there were any other fish in the tank. They are all scared into submission and were hiding!

Very nice. Goodluck. Those are a bunch of eggs. How old are those that bred?

The three smaller ones I got about 17 months ago. They were small then, so I'm guessing they're about 22 months or so. The large male I really couldn't say. I got him at the same time, and he was about 9" then, so he was probably a couple of years old then, which puts him at close to 3.5 now.
