I think the puffer caught a fry earlier, it dove hard into the sand at the base of one of the rocks and the only thing that hides under there in his area are newly spit fry.

Since adding those danios and convicts I've enjoyed watching my puffer's hunting techniques. I watched him dive from the surface miss the fish and bury his face in the sand hilarious...
