    Cyp fry, and more shellie fry of course...

    We have Cyp fry- 3 that made it, one other that escaped from the breeder net before we re-homed the Frontosa, and got snacked on I'm sure. The front has been re-homed (thanks, Mark!), so now the fry are safe to roam the tank... it's been so fun watching them. They are eating well and usually stick together over in the left corner- so cute!- so I took a vid for everybody:


    And the Multies are punching them out pretty well...now they're on the third batch of fry and Bugsy (don't ask- and yes, they all have silly names! ), the crazy momma on the left is taking care of them really well now, I'm proud of her!

    Now I'm crossing my fingers for the Gobies to be next...

    nice video Sasha. bice babies. i have one question the ones with yellow tails and black fins are those also Cyps?

      Thanks! My camera is having trouble focusing in this vid, I'm not really sure why.

          thank you, those are nice fish. my bro has like 6 cyps but they look more like the others ones. just single color but yours look great.

            That makes sense, and considering I don't clean it too close to the multies' shells it's no wonder I can't get it to focus there properly...

            Thanks. I don't know a ton about cyps in general, but these we have are another case of where the females are pretty bland; one color. And the males- especially the dominant male- color up really nicely in the head and tail. Hee hee, pretty boys.

              where did you get them? once i get my 75 if i do. it will be a tang tank. shelties are cover. fronts are cover, but still looking for some nice cyps.

                    I believe he sold them, but I see cyps on here fairly regularly. I will say that Frontosa naturally eat cyps as a major part of their diet in the wild, so usually they only work out while the fronts are tiny and cyps are larger.

                        Yeah, R...just FYI, Roy's got a good point to keep in mind for when you do your Tang tank- we let our front go not only to save the cyp fry, but also because the adult cyps and the front were starting to pick on each other... murder was imminent. We knew the combo wouldn't last long. We bought the smallest front we could find and he was only about 3'' when we got rid of it...we had it all of 3 or 4 months, maybe. I'd pick one or the other, if I were you.

                          thanks Roy and Sasha, i think Cyps would be the choice as they school way more and are to my opinion better. my brother calls them sardines. we have had fronts long time ago, but at least cyps and shelties will get along.
