Re: 150G Tropheus & Petrochromis Journal

Maybe split up your rock scape some? that way one single male isn't trying to control the whole tank?

As for my Mobas....I started with 15.... along the way I culled/removed males with mooning which sucked, narrowed it down to 12 which was still male heavy in a sense and after the two males killed each other last night I am down to 10. 3m/7f.

Yeah, that's what I plan to do next time I re-scape/water change.

I don't know but the rockscape looks good but from what I have experienced it doesn't always work.

In my Ilangi tank I had small pieces of holey rock kinda making a pathway between the two rockpiles for fry to hide and crossover through but my dominant male flipped and went ape$h!t on the beta/sub-dominant. Remove the smaller rocks and now the two live and breed in their own territory.

Re-Scape: This time around I went for a cave/cove effect. Also adds more depth to the tank. Petros are still a bit timid, hovering in between the holes peering out.

Even though you can see the flash, I still like this pic

          I know, I know, I still need a background...

Why are they all still hiding out? Your Trophs are hiding to from the looks of it.
Do you keep your lights on a timer or just flick it on/off?

That picture with the flash shows their size a bit and they look good!

Re: 150G Tropheus & Petrochromis Journal

This picture was taken right after the water change and re-scape, so that's why they're still hiding.

Added blue felt for background, re-scaped & did a 90% water change.

                  Looks nice. :)
How sturdy are those piles? I like how it helps define the different territories...
                  Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Probably functions better....but the reef scape looked better.

I agree with tim though, those piles look a little flimsy.

they won't fall..theres a lot of smaller peices behind that you can't see stacked up for support.
