hell yeah, those are some nice fish. he traded his moops for the mpimbwe colony. i saw them in person the day i picked up my fry from him.

Yeah not a bad trade after all ...

The male is about 10" ... one female is about 9" and the rest should be around 5"-6"

hope they'll breed for me ...

The fontosa is a very impressive and even Regal looking Cichlid, it just seems a bit lethargic to me. Maybe I haven't spent enough time with them, but then again, maybe it's just me.....?

Again, nice looking pics, thanks for posting......I'm curious, how long does it take a male to reach 10 inches or better in a fairly large tank?

Yeah, I was thinking a male that large must be close to 2 or more, maybe even 3 yrs of age.
I guess I'm going to be going through the whole gambit like other folks who just have recently gotten into fish keeping in a serious way, right now, I'm really getting facinated by those frantic little trophs....man, I have got to have me some more of them..... :)

Good Luck with your fonts though....they are nice, maybe you'll some fry for Xmas??

I have 15 1" Kigomas that it seems like it's going to take years to get to that size.  My plans are to thin them out as they outgrow their current home and have a nice breeding group when I'm done.

My biggest is only about 5" and I have had them for over a year now which started as 1".

I did have one that spurted like no other but I removed it so that the next can have a chance at dominance.
