    Re: Started the 125 African

Your also going to notice that your adding water to the sump about every other day, your tank level will be the same but the evaporation is being changed from your big tank down to the sump which is alot less area so it just shows more,do you get what I mean?evaporation in your big tank is no big deal doesnt show as much but with a sump 1 gallon of evaporation shows up alot

      Re: Started the 125 African

I took the water level sticker off that came on it and moved it up so that the water level should be just above the pump. the original line was only 1/4 of the way up the pump.

        Re: Started the 125 African

I keep mine about 1-2" above the top of the tank....allows for a weeks worth of evaporation before I do water changes.

            Re: Started the 125 African

So i added some Peacocks yesterday that I got from Raul and Hanson. Thank you guys they all look great in the tank. I currently have the whole tank covered to lower the aggression and get them used to the tank. But it has turned out to be a very colorful tank with the new additions. I picked up Jacob pair, Ngara pair, Red peacock, Orange trio, and a Hybrid that as some great colors. I will post some pics when I think the are ready for their close ups. Thanks again Raul and Hanson.

No problem....thanks for helping me out as well.  Post a pic of the hybrid or whatever that you got from me so that maybe someone can figure out what it might be.  I'm anxious to know myself.

                  Re: Started the 125 African

The hybrid looks similar to the Orange I picked up from Raul... but there are some differences like the orange is not as wide spread down the body and the dorsal fin colors are a little different.

That's not the Hybrid.....that's the Jacobfreibergi.  The Hybrid you got from me has the red anal fin with all the egg spots.  He is blue in the face with more of rainbow affect coloration in his body.

Is this the hybrid? Maybe that will explain why I couldnt find the same Jacob on cichlid-forum.com. I must have gotten them mixed up when I got them. Too many fish at one time.

Well I plan on adding some more at the auction this week then I am done no more fishes i will just sit back and watch them swim around. Thanks David. I was actually surprised because everyday that i get up in the morning and turn on the lights all of the males of all the species goes over to the rocky side with the Mbunas and nothing has happened. All the females for the most part stay in the open side at night. Its crazy seeing them when the lights come on. You see a mass exodus of fish leaving the rocky area and swimming around

He is so cute-he just pulls the dinning room chair out and sits and stares at the tank

In fact- I think he spends more time staring at the damn tank then with me and the dog
