Where are located ?Don't tell fish stories where people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.

I have done this before with bad results. I would buy wood from a store such as HAW. There are many things that can be hiding in driftwood that you find as opposed to store bought. I have tried bleaching, boiling, oven drying, and have been fine for a few weeks to a couple of months. But I've come home to a dead tank. This is what I was doing when I first tried driftwood a long time ago. I don't risk it anymore. I buy it, clean it, soak it, and repeat before using. I soaked my new driftwood in a prime/safe solution with a powerhead moving water.
As far as rocks, any park or lake can hold interesting finds. But I'd just got to a rock yard. If you do harvest from nature make sure to bleach, rinse with lots of fresh water( I put mine in the tub and fill with hot water, until the smell of bleach is gone), clean with a stiff brush and they should be good. But some porous rock can still hold in chemicals that can be harmful.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
