IMHO, tropheus should be kept in at least a 75g. And that's one colony only. Even in a 75g, I've never seen them grow to their max size. At least the school in a 75g.
Do any fish grow to their maximum size outside of nature? Chris, people do use 55 gallons for trophs but I've noticed people who do it start with adult fish. They grow hella slow in a 55 but hey, it'll work. I had my canary cheeks in a 55 and did two or three 90-95% water change and fed the heck out of them and they grew good enough to notice.
