Lol, yup. I'm stunt tropheus before.

But a 6" male is impressive.

I thought all the "old timers" used 55g tanks...

        Lol, who would that be?

IMHO, tropheus should be kept in at least a 75g. And that's one colony only. Even in a 75g, I've never seen them grow to their max size. At least the school in a 75g.

        Is a 55g doable? Yes.

Do any fish grow to their maximum size outside of nature? Chris, people do use 55 gallons for trophs but I've noticed people who do it start with adult fish. They grow hella slow in a 55 but hey, it'll work. I had my canary cheeks in a 55 and did two or three 90-95% water change and fed the heck out of them and they grew good enough to notice.

              On full breeding display too!

I've waited hours in front of a tank for one shot before.

Yes. You got to see some of john or geoff's tropheus. Some are 10+ years in captivity. Males maxed out nicely....none kept in a 55g.

But I have to say that the WC ones in that colony are all from Geoff's care.

I just remember seeing a thread a while back talking about tropheus and "old timers" with 55 gallon tanks...

Lol, I've bred tropheus in a bucket with a sponge filter before.

Does not mean that's how they should be kept.
