What are your water parameters? Are you using tap water? Do you dechlorinate your water? Do you use a carbon bottle? Where in Houston do you live (certain parts have lower quality water)? What is your filtration? Did you use Epsom salt? Are you over feeding? Is there a lot of aggression in the tank?Last edited by mistahoo; 08-25-2012, 04:04 PM.

I asked if he/she use a carbon bottle.210gPetrochromis Macrognatus Green 'Nsumbu

I have a 400 gallon fluval filter and a 90gallon filter on a 160 gallon aqaurium. All me other fish a nice and healthy. I feed them dainichi and also splurina flakes. Once to every other day. Normal light throughout the day. There are dominant fish in my tank but not towards the demasoni. Plenty of hiding places. You will never know if you didn't try!

Could you be more specific with feeding and water parameters and water change schedule. Just because other fish are healthy, doesn't mean much. Bloat normally occurs with one or just a few fish and then it spreads. Not all fish have the same immune system, so this one might be the most susceptible.210gPetrochromis Macrognatus Green 'Nsumbu

You said you do regular water changes? How many times a week do you do a water change? Do you change your water weekly, bi-weekly, monthly?
What are your water parameters?
Are you using tap water?
Do you dechlorinate your water? (i.e. using Prime, Amquel+, etc)
Do you use a carbon bottle?
What part of Houston do you live (certain parts have lower quality water)?
Did you try Epsom salt?
Are you over feeding? You mentioned that you feed once to every other day. I don't quite get what you mean? Do you mean you feed once every 1-2 days?
Do you happen to have a picture of the fish with bloat?Last edited by mistahoo; 08-25-2012, 09:30 PM.

I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I just wanted to put an emphasis on the questions asked. If you are adamant about success, then answering those questions would cut your learning time exponentially.210gPetrochromis Macrognatus Green 'Nsumbu

Yes I use epsom salt. Change my water weekly. Feed once to whey other day. I live in cypress. I don't use a carbon bottle. I haven't tested my waters today.(busy will put it on later) I don't have a picture of the one with bloat. But the first one it happened to befOre I moved his scales were shooting out like arrows and eventually one of his eyes got like super sized. So I took him out. But from that point when I moved from Austin I took all the wAter out. Did the whole moving thing. Lost a few. About four months ago I also had my ruby red lose mobility of his back half and then he slowly started to rott. But then again he was the only one affected by it(so I think)You will never know if you didn't try!
