  • 125g how many tropheus variants

This question I would like people that have already try it before or know a lot about the matter
not i read or i see

    thanks

    I have a 125g in it i have

    23 -Ikola

10-canary cheek (this is my babies most important in the tank)

would be doable put 12 red rainbows in there ? I am growing the canary cheek colony, already have one female holding but no fry jet , if this colony dont produce fry i would order some more in the near future .

filtration is not a problem have good filtration and water flow , diff SP too Brichardi,Black, and if i add the rainbows would be sp red so i am not worried about crossbreeding . i have see tanks with multiple colonies and petros
but idk if they still will produce fry ?

    lmk and again thanks

Sp. red are known to crossbreed with other variants but I don't have personal experience to back that up. When I kept several different variants together I had catfish in the tank to eat any fry so I didn't worry about it. I would make sure to watch closely if you do add them to see who is dancing with who. Good luck!

From personal reference, if you want the canary to breed more try to keep less variants in the tank. If it was my tank i would keep the ikolas and add 20 canary cheeks and then you will see the difference. Ive always heard that one variant tanks do the best and its true my colony of blues produce an ungodly amount of fry, same story when i had kasanga in a tank by them self.

I wouldn't put the canary cheek with another brichardi species. If I would, I would still have them in my tank. I do believe the red rainbows would be ok because I had red Ndole that never tried with the canary cheeks. The ikola are still small so I wouldn't add a group of adult fish until they are big enough to fight for food. Im actually experiencing this with my macro green Petro fry. They don't get the same amount of food as the trophs because of their size. And they aren't getting as much as they did when I had the Ikola and canary cheek in my tank.

You are right, I didn't. Think about that
Since I always have 1 or 2 variants in the same tank
Never run with this kind of problems :s

I tell you canary are my babies favorite variant

But they offer me some RR. Adults at a good price

Oh well I might save the money an order more canary cheek
