    HELP>>>>>

    Trophs in trouble

I noticed some lethargy over the past two days. I did a 25% water change on Sunday.

This morning I had dead fish. The others are covered in what looks like the worst ICH I have ever seen. Their eyes are clouded and have “growths”, their bodies are covered in white spots.

I used METRO in the tank and a copersafe bath on the remaining fish.

Only the trops have this. My juvie lemon yellows seem fine.

    Any advice.

7 dead adults, 4 dead juvies, 5 more look really bad. The last few are not as covered but obviously infected.

        135 gallon
        1 x fluval fx5
        1x hot magnum –chemical
        4 powerheads

        15 adult troph lufubu
        4 juvie troph lufubu

        3 juvie lemon yellows

        5 bala sharks – 3-4”

I never have issues with water quality. The setup is mature and seems to handle the load well.

3 auto feeders – set on low – NLS 1mm and OSI sprilina.

Water changes vary from 15-25% a week.

Tank temp – hmmm.. usually 77-78 but it’s on 80 now. I do not run a heater.

I have a set of tests running now – of course this happens on big meetings day – at least I am at home.

Yeah that's what I was gonna ask. Turn the temperature up to about 82 or 83. It will make the Ich grow faster which in turn will make it more susceptible to dying with the treatment.

Other water tests are fine. So a few degrees warmer and a PH crash.... I've added buffer.... any other thoughts... I have a 4 year old who was playing on the stairs near the tank this weekend (not for long I don't allow that) but it's entirely possible some thing went in the tank. I guess I'll start looking...

                    Any other ideas.

all fish have been in the tank for the past 9 months at least

the only change - difference is - I swapped out the hot magnum this weekend. I had purchased a used one about a year ago and it has sat in the box. I was too lazy to clean out the filter so I just switched them out. This is the first time I have used that filter. It is now off and out..... and I'm devastated - such a lovely colony and just starting to breed properly.

I'm moving in a week and had considered selling them just to ensure I didn't see something bad happen....

You might want to put a heater in there and gradually raise the temp to 86 to stop reproduction of ich and add some aquarium salt to kill off the ich. The cloudy eyes is something else. Was there a sudden change in temp in your tank recently? You mentioned you don't run a heater and a couple days ago we had a sudden drop in temperature.

sorry, I'm on the phone and doing tank work.... I'll turn on a heater... So you think it is ICK. S*&^% - I haven't dealt with that crap in years.

No more used products without thorough cleaning.... Damn....

On the plus side I am getting a bit more movement in the survivors including some active swimming.
