Ammonia, and both Nitrate and nitrites are 0. I never have those issue even though I have a relatively light filter capacity compared to some/many. I've been doing this for a long time including keeping reefs. But this is my first time with trophs.
I don't think it's a temp issue as my heating and cooling system keeps the tank within 2-3 degrees year round.
I've got a 30 gallon quarantine tank in the stand - could take them out and..... Let me know what you think.
so this might be a new learning experience for me. I moved here from the mountains of CO - we didn't even have AC in the house. I assumed and checked fairly regularly that the tank maintained a pretty even temp. But.....
This house doesn't kick on the heat on cold nights if the AC is on and I now recall it did get chilly....
So I guess I need to at least have the heater plugged in. The reason I don't is that I've lost fish/tanks due to faulty heaters. In my reef tanks I used pumps to generate heat - double value.
The buffer has worked for at least three fish in the past hour. They were on the sand. Now they are actively swimming and amazingly enough it only seems like their eyes are affected - the other spots (granted these guys weren't as bad) are gone.
The others while still "not well" look remarkably better in terms of all the white spots.
I have an Eheim in the tank (of course it's not plugged in) - what I want is a heater that is designed to fail in the off position. This one is big and I'm afraid it will cook the fish.
78 median. I don't fluctuate the temp in my home for day and night. the heat/AC plus various pumps generate enough heat to make up an extra degree or two.
I am purchasing a home next week (and my heating habits will change) so this is actually a very important if painful lesson on fishkeeping in Houston.
I noticed some lethargy over the past two days. I did a 25% water change on Sunday.
This morning I had dead fish. The others are covered in what looks like the worst ICH I have ever seen. Their eyes are clouded and have “growths”, their bodies are covered in white spots.
I used METRO in the tank and a copersafe bath on the remaining fish.
Only the trops have this. My juvie lemon yellows seem fine.
Any advice.
7 dead adults, 4 dead juvies, 5 more look really bad. The last few are not as covered but obviously infected.
I don't suspect anything. Just tossing out what it could possibly be. You mentioned in your original post that it looks like the worst ICH you've had. I'm with Sunny with the temp change. A picture of the fish would help greatly
I don't know of any heater that will fail in the off position, but I can tell you that I haven't had any Eheim or Via Aqua titanium heaters go bad on me.

+1 on those heaters. Heard nothing but good things of these heaters. I have a 300w eheim jager heater and it's very accurate with temperature.
