  • question for Troph keepers

I have been wondering about something lately. Those of you that have fairly large colonies did you get them from one source or multiple sources?

I aim to get them from multiple source that would help with the bloodline and don't interbreed from the parent fish.

One source work , but most people try to get them from multiple source .

          Re: question for Troph keepers

My F1 sp. Red Moliro colony of about 60+ fish is from multiple sources.

But sometimes, given the rarity of the variant, getting from several sources is not possible. For the most part, ill effects don't come up too much till several generations down and that takes a long time. So even if you do get fish from a single source, there is enough genetic diversity there to not affect the fish much at all.
