Just a small update. Added about 20 lbs of rock yesterday to create a bigger rock pile for Cyps once I find some that I like.

I bought a new Tanganyikan Goby a few days ago, eretmodus cyanostictus - My favorite fish so far! He is a greedy little eater, even the first day he was outcompeting my rainbows for food...

Changed my lighting - Running a 10k + Colormax T5NO now instead of 2 aquablues HOs for less light. Setup the R2 moonlights for a splash of blue. I like this natural look better though.

    Current stocking (future stocking)

    4 - Yellow Calvus (2-3)
5 - Bleheri Rainbows (moved 3 males, replacing the rest with Cyps)
    7 - Syn Petricola
    1 - Tanganyikan Clown Goby
    1 - J. transcriptus
    1 - J. Regani Kipili
6 (that I can count) multi shelldwellers.

I'm hoping the Regani and transcriptus start hybridizing. Probably will get a couple more of each and hope they cross-pair. I'm thinking the hybrid will look pretty damn cool. Probably a 4 inch creamed color checkerboard julie with blue fins!

If anyone is interested in Bleheri Rainbows, let me know. I have 4 Male, 4 Female. They would be great in a planted tank.

Now that I'm almost done with this one, I want to setup another tank!!

    Thanks!

Took out the rainbows and added a single tropheus dubosi, and single moorii moliro to my tank. The dubosi is 3 inches while the moorii is only an inch.

I also added a neolamp pulcher or daffodil.

I think I'm way overstocked, added the trophs for color, but does anyone know if they will get along? Depends on particular fish?

Current stocking, do I have room for cyps? Water change biweekly.

4 yellow calvus, 2 males, 2 females. I saw some male/female pairings in caves together. Will eventually the out one male and keep the 1:2 ratio.

1 case Julie transcriptus - this guy rules the left rock pile.

            1x Julie regani kipili

            1x Tanganyikan goby

            7 syn petricola

            1 x daffodil brichardi

I'm going for the varied shapes/movement marine look. The tropheus seems to be very happy ruling a tank by itself. No squabbles yet.

I really need advice on the cyps. Would 6-8 be ok? Filtration is a 2217, with 550 power head for flow.

Nice setup! I'm researching a setup similar to this.

Thanks! The tretocephalus and single tropheus are so well mannered! Apparently they're supposed to be aggressive, so I think I got lucky. I've also spent way too much time designing distinct tunnels and caves with my holey rock, that probably helps a lot with overstocking.

The duboisi is probably my favorite fish. So brave and patrols the top half of the tank; under the supervision of the tret of course, who mainly patrols the bottom tier of my large rock pile. No one ever bothers the calvus. I dropped 10 ghost shrimp in there yesterday for the first time, was fun to watch everyone chase down shrimp.

                  1x tretocephalus
                  1x tropheus moorii
                  1x tropheus duboisi
                  3x calvus (1m:2f)
1x Julie regani (not a fan of personality, probably taking out)
                  1x daffodil brichardi
                  7?x syno petricola

I've done a lot of homework on basically every tang fish, so feel free to pm me if you have any questions about your community.

Did you trade off a few of the calvus?

                    Everything is looking really good.

Yeah I did. One of the sub-dominant males was getting progressively more beat up by the dominant male, so I traded him in to FG. I also traded another male/female to crazy2bmx (sp?) for some multis. I know you're a little sad I broke apart your group like that, but I wanted more types of fish!
