More like 125%. But that method pretty much ensures all of the old water is out.

Ek was right. That's only 90% max by concentration. Lol.

Yeah I guess so, but it's 125% in water volume.

              Left with 25% old water
              Fills up the remaining (+75%)
              Drains 50%
              Fills 50%

So lets say you have a 100g which would make 100%
You remove 75 gallons or 75%
You are left with 25 gallons of dirty water or 25%
You dilute that 25g/25% with 75 gallons/75% so you still have 25% or 25g of dirty water
You drain it HALFWAY which is 50gallons or 50%
              Refill 50gallons or 50%
Which leaves you with, if I did the math right... 16.66666666% or 16.7gallons of dirty water left in your system.

Oh my gosh are you people serious if you want to get all technical its actually more if you think about the rocks at the bottom of the tank so there is less water down there is and then add the water from the wetdry and the eheims back into it and you will get a whole other batch of percentages but come on damn

So based on my math skills vs. yours. my calculations say I can read fairly well.

No need to get all butthurt, just pointing out that your post wasn't 100% correct.

The substrate, media, volume which the fish take up,rocks, the lack of filling to the rim, tank glass thickness, etc. would negate what extra volume that is added via wet/dry or filters.

Just to keep it to the simple cube of water.

To try and get this back on topic...

                        My personal experience...

Length of time before trophs are sexually mature varies, I've seen juvis or trophs young in age in comparison to their parents breed
With size, this also varies as I have seen small trophs breed as well as a variation in size among the different variants

The largest? Mostly Brichardi, Duboisi and sp.Red variants

the troph size/juvi stripe question, it also varies but most personal cases, yes.

Ratio, this is mostly true as dominant males will try and interfere with other males but at the same time if the tank has the room for it I have also seen male heavy colonies work just as well if not better than female dominant colonies. Also have seen extreme female dominant colonies not work just as the opposite.

I use to do 100% with my old ilangi colony...

I knew it was 100% when the fish were flapping on their sides.

Picture taken right before it completely drained.

Good point the reds usually get after it more than any other variant

supposedly one of the variants known to crossbreed as well.
