    Re: My new Fronts

There is a good amount of agitation.  I have an AC20 filter on it, and a 6 or 8" bubble wand.

sounds good to me, and you can never go wrong usually with too many water changes, but everyonce in a while a slightly larger one may be in order, or sometimes nitrates can build up slowly. i know many people that swear by large frequent water changes, im suprised walter isnt chiming in. anyway i have plants in all my tanks and usaually do bi-monthly changes at least i have been on new tanks at the apartment    not so many at old tanks that i need to break down and move,

I would say if you have the time 10% daily followed by a 30-50% weekly.

The problem with dailt 10% is every day that passes you are doing less cause there's 10% new already in there which you are taking out.

I would up the filtration if it were my tank....shoot for at least 10x turnover rate. Personal opinion but I don't like bubble wands, looks tacky.

As for the NLS comment that Cesar posted....I have spoke with them and there is ZERO truth in it.....NLS has zero plans of going away now or long after he passes.

Nott a huge fan of bubble wands myself, but this is not a show tank in teh least.  They are barely even viewable.

            Re: My new Fronts

I am thinking of moving my fronts to the 125, but i am wondering about some of the bigger fish in the tank.  I there is one malawi that will have to be removed for a few days, but what do yall think about Geophagus.  The geophagus have never shown aggression towards other fish, but I am wondering how they will respond to smaller fish.

              Re: My new Fronts

I don't think that your Fronts are big enough to be housed with bigger fish. Fronts are somewhat slow when it comes to feeding in comparison to other cichlids. (Malawi / CA/SA) My first concern would be the possible stress put on the Fronts by the faster and bigger fish. Secondly, I think your growth rate will slow down due to the bigger fish hogging all of the food. My suggestion would be to take both sets of Fronts and put them in the 125 gal. by themselves.

ya, i was thinking about getting rid of my malawi.  The only fish that I am planning to keep longterm with the fronts is my calvus(2") and my 2 geophagus(4").  I guess I will post an ad to see what interest there is in my malawi.

The Geo should be fine with the fronts....and I second what superdave stated.

Theyre actually more blue than the photos show, and they have nice yellow dorsals.
