Purigen is cheapest online, but any place that carries Seachem should have it available. It comes in bulk (loose) in many different sizes, but you'll need nylon hose (panty hose) to bag it for the tank. It also is available as a prepackaged pillow in one size only, but should be perfect for that size tank. You can recharge it after it becomes eventually fouled. Just put in bleach, prime it afterwards and its good to go again. When you are doing many tanks, especially nanos then the bulk is a better buy and have a collection of nylon hose sitting around for 'packaging' and double or triple bag it.

It was a red zebra! Weird thing only those two pretty full grown guys died and the medium sized ones still alive and doing well,

I'm not very good with Malawi's, but there are a lot more folks that know and keep them here. Most folks here on the box are all Tanganyika. Malawis, Victorians, and Madagascaran cichlids are the oddballs. There are a few breeders here on the box, I'm sure they could help with stocking suggestions and what works and what does not.
