This isn't the first time it's come up in a thread. There's several older threads/posts that warn people not to do WC during or after rainy days.

The water around here is just something you have learn to deal with. If it rains that means the MUD districts are going to pumping all kinds of nasty **** into the water.

I guess that is what we get for living in a large metro area built on a swamp.

If the water has a strong chlorine smell don't do it. Just wait. Or go to Walmart and get a RV carbon filter bottle. It's about 20$

Walmart has 2 options on the RV carbon bottle. You can buy 1 filter with a small hose connection or a set of 2 replacement filters. I bought the 2 set of replacement filters and a small 10ft white hose. I am gonna add this in series with the hose I already have for filling the tank.

Thanks Cuong, Got the RV carbon bottle at Walmart last night and did a wc. Let it drain out in the sink overnight. Is that all we have to do to air dry it?

                            • I have never had a prob. befor now. A few weeks ago. We (the wife and I) had 2 fish die. I tested the water. I found high ammonia. So i started looking for why. The tap was over 1.0 ppm. That is real high. After 24 hours in an aging tank it was still 1.0 ppm. i have never seen it that high after aging. it has always dropped to 0.00 befor now. Even cleaned every thing. Did the test again. Came out the same.
Its not the chlorine its the chloramine. So if you are using a carbon filter? make sure it takes out chloramine. So now I dosing my water with AmQuel plus ammonia detoxifier. Until Something better comes along...

                              • Doesn't chloramine stay at the top of the water when you age it? Just use a pump and get the bottom portion of water.
