I put filter pad in the bottom of my old one. Filled the middle with lava rock rubble and put filter floss on the top. Worked great and was super cheap.

dude, if you have $500 to blow...get 2 FX5's ($300-$400), a bag of lave rocks (bio media) and a bag of pillow stuffing (best water polishing filter media and cheap as hell)...

Send me a $50 tip for good advice and stick another $75-$100 in your pocket or down a strippers g string.

          2- fx5's blow a single 2262 away...hands down.

          you're welcome

Dude, thanks for the advice. I got 1 FX5 and 1~2217 in the 150g. Work like a charm but I want to switch the 2217 out for another monster canister. Can you post some links on the lave rock and pillow stuffing. Thanks.

              Craft section of walmart...or michaels...
It's like $4-$5 for a big a$$ bag of it...a bag last me a year.

Lava rock is just the lava rock that in peoples gardens... don't take it from someones garden but you can get the stuff at home depot or lowes...helll walmart may have lava rock also....get both while you're there.

Best advice i would give you is to go with the K1 media instead of anything else for your 2260/62

Tim (armthehomeless) sells the polyfil stuff for a lot cheaper. I think it's a 10ft roll. Pm him or check his thread. I have a roll and it barely fits in a huge blank trash bag.

I use the eheim mech noodles, 2" of poret foam cut to fit, the rest is eheim and seachem bio. Top that biatch with filter floss and you're good to go. May explore the K1 as I've got a back thats heading for surgery and the rock media makes that filter HEAVY

                      UPDATE:
The 2262 came in the mail last week, and I finally set it up and running for the last few days. The media cost $60 as follow:

Bottom: (dish washing) sponges cut in various shapes $15 (1/2 left over for next use)
Middle: about a good 4" of activated carbon ($35)
                      Top: filter floss ($10)
(Was told this is the most effective biological set up. We'll see!!)

This monster canister came with a monster pump. Can you give any advice on how to make it quiet down. With pretty loud humming sound, I shut it down and tightened up the anchor bolts twice so far, but the base is plastic, I can only tighten it so much.

Turn your hearing aids down! Mine barely make any noise. Make sure you have all the air out of it. Trapped air will make them loud.

I noticed the Eheim 2217 also gave some humming sound when I first set it up. Maybe it needs some time to break in (I think)?

Don't understand why it should be noisey at all. Mine only has noise from the water flow. No noise
at all from unit. Shouldn't have to fool with bolts that secure pump at all. And clamps that secure top are way easer than fx5,and better designed.
I have two and they are both quiet,I sleep in same room with them and cann't hear them.
