  • Moba colony take 2! Vid.

Hey all. Some of you know that I had gotten some frontosa fry (blue Zaire, F1) from RonR about two years ago. The ex got the tank and fish, and I'm just now getting them back since he's moving out of state. They were in a poor state but I'm slowly getting them back to a healthy place. They're still quite skittish and three of them had to have surgery for float, but they're starting to settle. I have 16 currently; will be selling off males after I scape the tank and everyone's healthy.

The vid is deliberately low light because I'm trying to keep these folks as chill as possible. There's some good shots though. Enjoy! And thanks to all who helped out with the move last weekend!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Yep. Got em at about 1-1.5". The alpha is at 6-7" and the smallest female is only 3.5".

Thanks Geral. They need weight and food. I had to salt the water and change up their foods and gently start refeeding.

Definitely. Didn't want some of their frayed fins showing up in the vid. And 3 of them had really flattened bellies after I needled them but they're starting to look normal again. :)

They're still in their original 125g. I want to get down to a group of 10-12 max, with 1-2 males. They're still small-ish, so I can get away with the 125g and a lot of filtration.

Thanks J. Haven't scaped it yet since I don't want them fighting. It's gonna stay low light. Sunny has some good (inexpensive) spot light ideas that provide awesome shimmer.

At first I wasn't sure which out of the larger 2 was the alpha, but as they swim back and forth, I notice that they all follow one fish in particular, so I think he's the one!

2217 + two AC110s and I just added on an Aqueon 55/75 HOB. Plus circ pumps that turn on twice daily to keep the sand clean.

What kind of frontosa do you have?
