  • Best shop for Cichlid's??

I'll be driving in from Beaumont, and will be all over Houston.

I'm looking for decent selection. I'm needing some decent size females, and possibly adding some more sets.

Really? He must've stepped it up. Last I was there (about a year ago) everything was dirty and minimal stock. Plus everything seemed like Fish Gallery prices. Ever since, I've never went back.

Pretty sure Houston Aquatics has yellow labs as well. It is a hole in the wall place but they have decently priced livestock.

yes, i did get my angels from him and they are great quality. my brother got his malawi and they are good and healthy. we havent had any deaths, and the ones we had had been for other causes. the is ok with prices and since he knows me and his wife knows some of my college friend they give me better prices. he is pricey on the wild caught section. 20-40 for a cyps, throphs are about 9-14

Best thing if ur looking is to just stop in some shops and see for your self wat they got and if u like th store for yourself. Some stores know whats up, and their on top, others are just kinda blah blah and dont really care.

I think Fishland has a good selection of Malawi and decent prices compared to other places. The fish quality is very good IMO. It is one of my favorite LFS thus far.

Last time I was there prices for WC trophs and cyps were much higher than that. He was all grumpy and moody too. I'd rather not drive that far just to waste gas on higher prices. Houston Aquatics and quite a number of other stores are much cheaper and closer to me anyways.

I agree with the dirty tanks. The 2 yellow blaze I bought from there died. I think they are better than Fish R Us, but that's not saying much. There are not good fish stores on the North side.

There aren't any good freshwater fish stores on the North side. Saltwater is a whole nutha story. We have FJW and 3CC which are better compared to the ones down South side (except TNT).
