  • Restocking my 215 gallon tank

After major disasters of stocking with the wrong type fish, I think I have settled on restocking my 215 gallon tank with large malawi haps. I am considering cyrtocara moorii (blue dolphin), Lichnochromis acuticeps (Malawi gar), aristochromis Christyi (Malawi Hawk) and placidochtomis Milomo vc-10. Does this sound good? I love the fish, all from the same lake (lesson learned) and all large haps. Also, I need to pick some bottom feeders? How many of each would you suggest? I currently have a eheim 2260 and a sponge and am getting a wet dry added. I am sure if left something out. Thanks for all the support for this newbie.

That sounds very workable. I love biotope tanks far better. There is only a solitary Synodontis species found in the lake Syn. Njasse that I see occasionally that would be an awesome addition and I have seen some of the Mormyrids and Mastacembelid eels as well. For some oddball reason the lake does not have the diversity of the other fish families, but cichlid species certainly manage to make up for it, lol. I'll try and keep an eye out for any cool oddball Malawi's I happen across and let you know.

Here is a great page I use for Malawis and non-cichlid Malawis
