Consider a pool supply store or hot tub store. Around here, larger piping is less expensive at those locations than home depot or lowes..

Also iv noticed that Lowe's has a pretty good selection of misc pvc fittings, with threads, barbs, and ect. Hd doesn't carry any.

I purchased two of these and joined them together. Water changes are so much faster now.

I got stuff from Lowe's. Wasn't very expensive but both of my tanks are close to sinks so I didn't need a lot.

No, I got one at Lowe's and the other from Home Depot. I paid $21.96 + tax for both. Just ask for the sump hose.

This is what I use to drain my tanks with the hose attached. It make water changes easy and drains fast.

This is how the contraption works Stephen:

                              2013-08-04 22.37.04.jpg

Close off the black valve and leave the blue valve open. Suck on the vinyl tubing until the water is half way in the tubing. Close the blue valve and open up the black valve and you will here the water draining. Once you have finish draining the water open up both valves.
