    Close off the black valve and leave the blue valve open. Suck on the vinyl tubing until the water is half way in the tubing. Close the blue valve and open up the black valve and you will here the water draining. Once you have finish draining the water open up both valves.

      I purchased two of these and joined them together. Water changes are so much faster now.
      I got the same hoses like these and i always have water leaking problem at the joint. can you share what you used to connect these two hoses? picture would be great too. Thanks.

        Here is how I joined the hoses together. I told the guy at HD what I was doing and he showed me the parts. When I got home I put cement glue on the inlet that goes into the white coupling. Before I tighten the clamps I wrapped some of the elastic black tape around the hose where the clamps would be. I have not had any leaks.
