While Geoff contemplates how to fit another 180g into this already impossibly cramped apartment, Tim starts thinking... "hmm.. if I dont tell Fiona now that I bought the fish.. and I leave them for a while over at Geoff's and if I just one day tell her that some fish need to come home but we need to install one more tank to do this... can this be accomplished ???"      

Geoff -- and when are you upgrading to a 3 bedroom apartment again ?  I figure it cannot be that far down the road.. I am thinking you need to seriously start thinking about getting a house so you can get your fish rooms setup :)

I was catching some fish out of the tank today for a fellow boxer, and had to take out all of the rock. Since all of the rock was already out, I decided I would use it as an opportunity to experiment with the tank a little. I have yet to decide if I like it or not, So I'm looking for your opinions.





Which do you like:

I'm quite partial to the lace rock myself, I think it looks a little more natural to something that you would actually see under water.  I'm a sucker for a tank full of holey rock but it just seems like everyone has a tank full of it now.

Tim,

I like what I see... the yellow does pop.... make sure that you leave your substrate white..  the yellow labs at my house added dark spots to their body because I am running black sand in mine.  If all goes well I will prove my theory this weekend as I am thinking about re-doing my tanks, and one of the things that is changing is the black sand is being replaced by pool filter sand

Now the second question I have for you..  what other fish are in the "yellow labs only tank" ?

3 Trifasciatus Rainbowfish, 2 Turquoise Rainbowfish,8 Electric Blue Ahli,1 BN pleco,4  Petrotilapia sp. 'Chitimba' Chitimba Bay, and a partridge in a pear tree.

The rainbowfish will eventually go into my dad's tank once they get close to the size of his. I think I'm going to get rid of the Petrotilapia soon. They are a bit too aggressive for my taste. They'd be the king's of the tank once they grow up.
