  • filtration question

I plan on setting up a 240g peacock tank (72x30x25). What would be the best filtration system that would be easiest to maintain? I was planing on 2 fx5 on each end of the tank but i don't know if that will be enough. I plan to have about 20-25 fish in there. I'm a little hesitant to go with a wet dry because I've never used one before or drilled a fish tank, but if it's the best route to go I'll figure it out. Thanks for your advice in advance.

2 fx5 sounds good on each end and simple to maintain. I had 2 fx5 on a 100g before lol

If you already have 2 FX5 that great for 240Gal tank. If you don't have FX5 ($350/each) yet than put out a little more money for Eheim 2262 ($388/each it is the best filter for big tank ) it is on sale right now at http://www.valuepetsupplies.com/ehei...uble-taps.html . For me I will have a sump tank ( 40gal or 55 gal) that make great maintain you water condition ( depend on media you have in there for example lava rock " very cheap at home depot less $5.00 for 25lb" great maintain PH and build bacteria, carbon for water clear and odor....) You do not need drill the tank just buy an overflow box rate 1200 ($69 great deal) http://www.thatpetplace.com/proflex-...FfPm7AodPlEAgw and you good to go with DIY Sump ( it is not to bad to build one) . This is my sump tank I just build last 2 weeks ago. IMG_0757-Optimized.jpg

Thanks for the advise guys. I'll post pictures as it comes along. I'm building a house right now and as the architect I designed the tank to be built in the wall between the living room and office. That way it is see through from both rooms with floor drain and water connection in the base cabinets for quick and easy water changes.

Put a sump on there. They are so easy. And cheaper than an FX5. Better bio filtration and you can easily put some micron socks to polish the water. Sumps go a dime a dozen these days.

I agree with the sump. Easy to maintain.

I have a 240 w/55gallon sump. Have a +400gph(don't remember) return pump, with 2 x 100 micron filters. About 15 sq ft worth which I pressure wash every other week, works great and tank is crystal clear.
