White Dot On Eye

I noticed maybe two days ago my mbuna has a white dot on one eye only. still very active, eating has not really changed much, and no other fish in the tank have the same symptom. i did a water change last week, and will be cleaning out the canister tonight incase any buildup in there (possibly another water change).

i did add new driftwood recently, so was thinking possibly she scratched her eye or something came in on the wood, but if it was bacteria on the wood, all the fish would likely be showing signs.

I was thinking its eye cloud and to use Melafix and Pimafix together. i heard you can use both together for faster results, but never have done so myself.

Questions:
-Is that safe? Or is it better to use one or the other?
-I know I would have to remove all carbon from the filters, so does that include removal of purigen and the matrix rocks in the canister filter too?

That is not ick is it?
If she scratch her eyes, water change and maybe a little epsom salt will heal it. Happen to my fish all the time.

It's probably a claucoma just like people get.

Several of my clown loaches have the samething and they are very healthy fish.

i will be doing a WC tonight again. how much epsom do you use? never used it before, let alone a 75 gal tank.

i havent seen ick ever on the eyeball itself. that normally is body/fins. this isnt an elevated bump either. i will keep a look out for more dots if they appear (especially on other fish too)

yeah she appears healthy to this point. just hard to say if its a scratch or not. some of my plecos have always had a small dot on the eye, never enlarging. but this one formed over a few days, which is why i am possibly thinking infection.

i always hesitate to treat whole tank due to no hospital tank available. i know melafix and pimafix are more gentle but always a risk

My Petrochromis Marco Rainbow have similar issue last week , I didn't want to take a chance and treat them with "Quick Cure" it's gone after couples of days.

Yeah i will be stopping at the LFS on my way home and get melafix and pimafix for a combo treatment. more gentle than quick cure which i used with mixed results in the past. It says you can treat with both meds (melafix and pimafix) at full strength, and to be sure you have adequate surface agitation do to it being an oil and possible oxygen decrease in the tank. I think i am covered on aeration

Epson salts are for malawi bloat. I would use aquarium salt at 2-3 tablespoons/gallon or dose with melafix or primafix. You can also combine the salt with the melafix or primafix.

after the melafix treatment for 6 days the dot is still there, but the eye overall is clearer. the plecos turned out to have some body fungus too...white patches i didnt see. one pleco was covered. the melafix cleared all of that up.

i will keep monitoring the eye to see if the dot gets bigger or anything. right now it seems to not hurt anything, just appeared one day
