  • Hyperactive tropheus male

I've got one tough guy who is trying to take over my tank, he usually keeps all the others pushed aside. He's not causing much harm, just a few lost scales, but I'm tired of watching him rule half the tank and push 17 to the other half. What's the best plan of attack for this? I've read a lot about timeouts, in order to give the others a chance to grow some cajones and put him in his place. I've also seen some articles on outright removing them, but I figure someone else will just take his spot. I saw something about a powerhead by his territory as well, to wear him out I suppose. I have a pretty poor ratio, so I've even considered removing males to decrease the M:F ratio, but would like to avoid this unless it's totally necessary. Any recommendations?

Try to take him out of water for couples min and he should learn his behavior.

Yeah a few minutes won't work. I would do a few weeks. But then again, it could be an issue of scaping.

Tank is bare at the moment. It's gotten better since I took all the rocks out but he's still acting up a bit
