  • New 95 gllon formally saltwater tank

Out of nowhere, my neighbor offers me a 95 gallon, piano shaped tank for $200! I think that is a pretty good deal. I have been thinking about a cichlid tank for a while and would love to use this tank. He used it for salt water, but the tank is not drilled. Would there be any problems with using the tank? I was going to scrubs with vinegar and peroxide to get it squeaky clean before I start building it. Filters, plants, inhabitants will be a thread for another day.

The salt creep and coralline algae is actually good for freshwater. The freshwater will break that stuff down pretty quick and hold onto the nutrients from the salt. I wouldn't hesitate to use the tank. The Wave tanks (Im assuming what you mean by piano tank) are weird to light up. You almost need a full 48" fixture, then a second 24" fixture for the wide area up front. But other than that, their real nice

should not be a problem. can always scrub it out good like you mentioned. i even add some lemon juice to the vinegar for harder water stains if they exist.
