  • All male mixed varient frontosa tank

I'm thinking of making my 310 gallon tank a mixed varient tank. I think it would be interesting to see the differences in varients in one tank. What does everyone think about this?

Might have some aggression issues as they mature, but at least you won't have to worry about cross breeding

It's a 310, so hopefully it will be okay.

Ideally, as long as there's plenty of hiding spots and breaks in line of sight you should be good, but there's no way to say for sure

What are the dimensions on that 310? That's a good size tank

I have had colonies of moba, Kapampa, kigoma, and mpimbwe in the past. I have never tried to keep so many males at once. I think it will work.

I've never seen it either, your tank should be plenty big though. Best of luck!

It's kind of like a all male peacock tank.

                    I like the idea.

I would add a dither fish of some sort to keep things kind of busy.

I am definitely getting some dithers. I like tinfoil barbs. I might get some petrochromis too.

Just a heads up on the petros.. they're significantly faster than fronts so you might have difficulty feeding. Not to mention at any moment the petro could turn aggressive and destroy the fronts. Look into neolamprologus and lamprologus species as dithers

Calvus and Compressiceps would be a good match

I've seen it done before with huge males in a tank half that size...Without females to fight over for breeding competition, they should get along fine...Be sure to post pics as I'd love to see how it turns out!
