@ ksskumar, whats the status on your fish ?. I do frequent water changes bc its not a hassle. I use a powerful powerhead to drain partial tank daily then refill it with same equipment. I did a water change in my 65g yesterday. It took me 20 minutes. I have a red eyed puffer in a 45 g. He showing what I think are 2 burn marks from being too close to the heater. I have to maintenance his tank with medicine and siphon any waste. Im using a natural tea leaf wound chemical to treat it.
Regarding your question. I never tried seachem Paraguard. I was informed to stay clear from Petsmart or Petco fish and products. Where are Commercial Pet stores getting there livestock. Ask yourself that. You have to Buy high grade fish pharmacy products to kill parasites from commercial pet stores. There are a handful of medicines that treat internal parasites and external illnesses. Each bottle serves a different purpose. it's an expensive approach. Then again, what I use works for me, may not work for you.
Check out aqua pets paradise. Its on memorial. The owner, Eric keeps his shop and tanks clean. The fish are very healthy and reasonably priced.

First - Big thanks to all HFB experts.
Here is the status of the fish/tank
0. UNPLUGGED - the heater
1. Ammonia tests - came out 0 ppm
2. Nitrate - 80-100
3. Did 2 X 75% water change over a week
4. Cleaned my Eheim 2217 - not bad - but it was overdue.
5. Did 25% change while cleaning the Eheim (needed tank water anyways)
No fishes died since then.
Parrot is coloring back again...possibly a good sign.
Continuing to feed once a day (?!!!) - Omega One pellets
Weekly treat - Bloodworm (frozen)
Is my feeding practice ok?
Once paraguard comes in , I will treat the tank.
Anything that I might be missing?
Thanks again for all your input - made a big difference.

I'd stop feeding blood worms as some of your Africans aren't able to handle them. Try to switch to brine shrimp or freeze dried krill.
Continue doing large WC on a regular basis, say 75% weekly.Last edited by SunnyHouTX; 10-13-2014, 01:58 PM.
