  • May be Trying Demasoni Again

I'm thinking about trying to breed Puedotropheus or Libidochromis. How can I make them not kill each other?

Buy a bunch of Demasoni. I've heard that 12-15 is the minimum number to keep aggression down.  For monomorphic cichlids a large school is a good way to keep aggression in check, or you could vent them and get a good male to female ratio.

Agreed: buying in large groups always helps reduce aggression levels.

A few other things that may help with aggression:

        -getting a larger tank
-adding dither fish like giant danios or rainbowfish
-rearranging decor whenever adding new fish
-providing as many "caves" for the males as possible
-performing large water change whenever adding new fish
-keeping lights off when adding new fish and leaving 'em that way for the night
        -not feeding immediately afterward

Are you planning on keeping Ps. demasoni and the Labidochromis in the same tank or by themselves, or the demasoni by themselves? Either one would be fine...

What size tank would you be putting them in?

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

But the thumping that EK refers to usually makes the fish float "Forever"

lol.  i just get them a good ol fashion butt whooopin from a bigger badder fish,  nurse them back to good health and then put them back in the tank.  everyone i have done that way, has learned a lesson.  and NO i dont let them get hurt hurt.  more of a pride hurt and after that pride beating, they get to go to solitary confinment for a bit.  lol.  if that dont work then EK's thumpin is next. lol.  i have a fish electric chair.  ol sparky except the spark dont shockem it lights the fire to BBQ them. lol.
