Where do you buy your fish?

I do like fishland. I bought my tank and most of my equipment there, but I thought they had "assorted cichlids" when I was there last.

They always have an assorted peacock tank, but you can't be sure on what you're getting. AQUA aquarium has been stocking some nice peacocks as well

I've never been to Aquazoo or ADG

ADG closed on Sunday so maybe I'll go check out Aqua.

If you're looking for guaranteed, high quality peacocks, go to ADG. If you're looking for a variety at a great price, try Fishland

Agreed. Fishland does have a lot of "assorted" tanks. so whenever i buy from there, i typically take a guess or post on here for opinions. that is why their prices are so good. if you cant say this is a pure whatever species, they lump them together and you can get some nice finds.

nothing wrong at all with their stock. still can find some great colors and mixes

Don't spend all your money at one place LOL. Personally, I like to shop around for fish stuff. I love to go to ADG for Tanganyika stock. Fishland for new tank and stand. FG for a nice Sunday stroll...

I went to ADG yesterday. Very nice, first class place. They did have a lot of lake Tanganyika fish.

Malawi peacocks were running about 100 for a M F pair. Since I'm planning on all male I'm not sure how that would work and I didn't bother to ask anyone.

their displays are great. don is a good guy at ADG. its not uncommon to want a male only tank, but enough people want to breed too that they list combo prices. all you can do is ask. they give good advice and suggestions if you say what you are looking for in your tank

ptran has the right idea too. different stores are better for different types of fish/supplies. usually just take a little shopping around to find the right places for you.

I agree with both above. Don at ADG is a great guy and he won't steer you wrong. Ptran is on point with his recommendation. The best way to get a good variety is to hit a variety of shops, as not everyone carries the same fish. Since you're on the south side, I think you should be able to get some nice variety through ADG, HAW, Fishland and if you dare, FG. City Pets is another option, but they can be hit or miss on peacocks

Houston Aquarium Warehouse, off 59 & the beltway. John specializes in Discus and community fish, but you can score some nice africans for cheap from time to time
