I have a aqueon 75 which does 400gph and the 2217 does 160gph and I'm pretty sure the pump I have on the wet dry does 6 or 7 hundred gph

Well so is the head loss not factored in already from the factory. Ur saying that if the factory says it does 700 gph then it does less with 4ft of head pressure. I thought they had the head pressure factored in already

Found an article on here about Troph keeping. It is recommended 10x turn-over in an hour.

That would make a great tank for a small troph colony, Moganman actually recommends 75s as the best size for tropheus. 10 times an hour is definitely a safe rate with ample bio media, but there's some give and take in the numbers. You can get away with less turnover if you use your filters efficiently. Your wet/dry and the 2217 are both great for biological filtration, the wet/dry could do work with some micron socks, and then toss some purigen in the 2217

I think he meant its better for small colonies to keep the aggression level down. Give a small colony too much room and they will get wildly aggressive. So for 20 or less it's perfect

It's all relative. Pushing water through 5g of quality media at 400gph is similar to running 1000gph through 2g of media. I haveboth flow rates and dont know the difference. Increased flow will be more noticeable with mechanical

In 4 ft. you will loss some head pressure. They do not factor in for the lift. But it is not enough to worry over. The benefits of the wet/dry is the large media space. It will hold 3 to 4 times the media as a 2217. if it runs 650gh it's cleaning more water then 4 or more 2217.
